David Shivers has been the pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church for a little over ten years now. He and his wife, Jeanne, along with their two children, Taylor and Ellen, are originally from Mississippi. Under Pastor David's leadership, Hopewell has grown significantly and expanded its facilities. Pastor David is a multi-talented leader, gifted in guitar, singing, compassion, humor, and genuine hospitality, just to name a few things.

Mitchell Harrell, or Mitch as he is called, is Hopewell's youth minister. Mitch works with all ages and is loved by everyone. Mitch has weekly activities with the ABY (American Baptist Youth Group). They attend concerts, go to ballgames, have church lock-ins, go to camp, etc. During Wednesday night prayer meeting, Mitch leads the youth in a Bible lesson and provides fun entertainment in the gym. Mitch fills the pulpit when Pastor David is out of town. There never seems to be a dull moment wherever Mitch is involved!
